This is an antique Chilean Mauser Model 1895 (Chileno Modelo) rifle chambered in 7x57 and manufactured in Loewe, Berlin. It features a 29-inch barrel, blued finish, wood stock, and 5-round internal magazine. The top of the receiver is marked with the Chilean crest and all of the numbers, except for the cleaning rod, are matching. Introduced in 1895 as the "Fusil Mauser Chileno Modelo 1895" these models were first manufactured by Ludwig Loewe & Co from 1895 to 1896 before the company became DWM in 1896. Due to the very short time that Loewe manufactured the Model 1895, these guns are fairly scarce and more sought-after by collectors. This 130+ year old rifle is in original condition with no signs of being restored or refinished. The bore is bright and shiny with good rifling. There is a fair bit of wear, light pitting and patina to the metal, especially to the buttplate. The wood is in fair condition with many scuffs, scratches. dings, nicks, and pressure marks, the cartouche on the left side of the buttstock can still be made out.
