US Civil War Joslyn Model 1864 Carbine 52 Rimfire Breech-Loader - Collectible *1864*

PRICE: $4,499.99 $4,799.99

This is an exceptional example of a US Civil War-era Joslyn Model 1864 Carbine chambered in .52 Rimfire. It features a breech-loading design with 22-inch barrel. First introduced in 1864, Joslyn Carbines saw limited use during the Civil War. Cartouches include "GWS" (George W. Sherman) stamp on left side of barrel. Sherman is listed as inspector on the Joslyn 1864 carbine. The left side of stock has two identical cartouches in rectangular box "FDL" (Frederick D. Livingston). Livingston was a noted inspector of the Second Model Joslyn carbine. Livingston inspected at least 8,000 Joslyn carbines delivered between July 1864 and February 1865. The buttplate is stamped "US". Just ahead of the buttplate is another black letter "FDL" cartouche. Lock is stamped "JOSLYN FIREARMS CO. STONINGTON CONN" and dated 1864. The rear of the breechblock exhibits the clear patent stamping of “B.F. JOSLYN’S PATENT / OCTOBER 8TH 1861 / JUNE 24th 1862”. Overall condition of this carbine is above average with a bright shiny bore and sharp rifling. Everything works as it should; it probably shoots as good today as it did 162 years ago. The wood is in very fine original shape with clear markings. There is what appears to be a bullet scar on the bottom of the buttstock, and chip just behind the barrel band on the right side. The barrel retains most of the original bluing and the lock still has very nice case coloring. This is a museum grade example of an 1864 Joslyn. Buy online today!
