This is an antique Remington 1863 Contract rifle chambered for 58 caliber projectiles. It features a 33-inch barrel, percussion ignition system, folding rear sight, bayonet lug, sling swivels, and steel ramrod. Overall, this Remington is in fair vintage condition with moderate age-related finish wear on the barrel, lock, and stock. The breech plug is missing, rendering the rifle nonfunctional. The lock and barrel are dated 1863. The barrel features "VP" proof marks with Eagle's head. Two cartouches are visible on the left side of the stock. This gun is being sold as-is for display purposes.
