This is a Smith & Wesson Model 459 pistol chambered in 9mm. It features a 4-inch barrel, glossy blued finish, alloy frame, and steel slide. The serial number indicates this pistol was manufactured in 1981. Production of the 459 began in 1981 at approximately serial number A668439 and continued until about 1987. The serial number on this pistol is A736245. Early models such as this one were originally fitted with a short wide extractor, but by 1982 the extractor changed to a longer one that extended into the slide serrations. Overall condition is excellent with barely any signs of use. There is a very small amount of wear on the backstrap serrations and the top of the front sight has been painted red.
