Springfield Armory Model 1903 Arsenal Rebuilt 30-06 Rifle, Low Serial Number - Collectible *1906*
This is a Springfield Armory Model 1903 rifle chambered in 30-06. It features a 24-inch barrel, wood "scant" stock, and 5-round capacity internal magazine. The serial number puts the receiver date of manufacture at 1906 and is well under 800,000 which means it's not considered safe to shoot. Early Springfield receivers below 800,000 serial number were known to have "brittle" receivers and were prone to failure. Tor this reason, it's not advised to shoot this gun. This particular example appears to have gone through an arsenal rebuild, most likely it was needed for service during WW2. The bolt is a later "swept-back" design and the barrel is dated "12-44". The left side of the stock is marked "AOC" which could refer to Anniston Ordnance Corps or possibly Army Ordnance Corps but this is only a guess. Overall this rifle is in good condition with a bright shiny bore and strong rifling. Due to the low serial number, we are selling this gun for display or collectors purposes only. This gun is not safe to shoot. This would make a nice addition to a military firearms collection. Buy online today!
